Terry Fox Run

On Friday, Sept 22 Eastdale staff and students headed to Riverdale Park for our annual Terry Fox run to raise awareness and money for the fight against cancer.  Following the run, all staff and students were treated to hamburgers, spicy fries and pasta in the school's backfield. The event not only raised awareness about cancer but also helped build a sense of belonging within the school community as you can see from the photos below:

Eastdale TV

Students and staff from Eastdale co-created three TV episodes with Regent Park Focus Program. The TV shows are on closed network for the regent park community as well as being posted online (see below).
The first episode tells the story of Eastdale's Peace Builders program and the use of peace circles. The second episode features Eastdale's salad bar program while the third episode highlights Eastdale's hospitality and foods program. Kudos to all who helped create the informative series.

Welcome Back Assembly Semester 1 2017

On Tuesday, September 12, staff and students received an ancestral blessing and optional smudging for students/staff (see below). The smudging ceremony is a custom of Native American and other indigenous cultures. For centuries many cultures have used smudging as a way to create a cleansing smoke bath that is used to purify the body, aura, energy, ceremonial/ritual space or any other space and personal articles.
