The new roof has a much needed design to accommodate our rooftop garden with appropriate walkways for students, visitors and foodshare partners. The project was completed in ten days!
To quote Justin Nadeau from TDSB (Green Projects Team Leader):
"In addition to a very fast membrane replacement, the crews managed to crane off over 200 garden boxes and place them back in the exact layout that was provide. Detail was taken down to the half inch and as issues came up with the proposed layout, they were able to adapt and find a good solution. Just 10 days after the boxes were removed, we had student harvesting radishes in their newly restored rooftop garden.
I could not have asked for a better result. Thank you for the hard work, attention to detail and care for the roof garden which is a vital piece for the program and employment offerings at Eastdale CI."
The planters have been moved to the back field (below)
Fantastic to see this return to the roof of the school. It's such a wonderful part of Eastdale.
